The Host
“Art therapy is truly a unique and inspiring concept and practice. I first dove head first into psychology and then I decided to pursue my love for art, and that is when I stumbled across therapeutic art.”
Meet your host, local artist Sara. Hear her story and how Creativity Uncorked was born.
I have been in love with blank paper since I was a small child. Every gift was some sort of new medium and a fresh pad of paper. I didn't realize then what art would end up doing for me, and today, I couldn't imagine my life without it.
When most people think of therapy, they picture sitting on a couch across from a therapist, talking through life's issues in great detail. I'm sure I used to think the same way. For years, I have created things that express who I am, but never as deeply as I have in the past three.
Life has dealt me quite a few challenges. While I have overcome them, they have left lingering trauma. Like many of us, I used to blame things I didn't like about myself on the trauma I had endured. It's time to change that perspective. It's time to acknowledge our past and stop using it as an excuse for the things we cannot explain or wish we could change about ourselves. The phrase "it's because of my past trauma" is no longer in my vocabulary.
I have noticed a profound amount of healing and self-realization surface during my most creative moments, and I want to share the peace that art offers with the communities around me.
The best part is you don't have to be artistically inclined to create beautiful art. You just have to connect with your inner experiences and transform that energy into something magnificent.
Join me for an art therapy workshop where we do more than just paint—we create masterpieces of all kinds! From sculpting clay flowers to crafting mosaic pieces, we aim to help you find your flow state and guide you toward the art of healing. (And yes, the wine and social time help with that too!)
The Class
This is more than just an art class—it's a creative sanctuary designed for you. In our workshops, we explore the powerful connection between art and healing. We provide a space where you can disconnect from daily pressures and reconnect with yourself through the simple, joyful act of creating. The focus is never on getting it "right," but on the journey of the creative process itself.
Imagine a warm, welcoming room filled with music, conversation, and the quiet hum of creativity. You'll be guided through inspiring projects, from sculpting clay flowers to crafting vibrant mosaic pieces. We foster a relaxed, non-judgmental atmosphere where you can find your "flow state"—that magical feeling where time melts away and you're fully immersed in the moment. It's a space to breathe, play, and connect with a community of like-minded individuals.
f you're feeling stressed, creatively blocked, or simply curious, this workshop is for you. It is a welcoming space for everyone, especially those who:
Believe they "aren't artistic" (we'll prove you wrong!).
Are looking for a new way to practice mindfulness and self-care.
Want to meet new people in a relaxed, supportive setting.
Need a dedicated time and place to nurture their own well-being.
No previous art experience is necessary. All you need is an open mind and a willingness to explore.
You will leave each session with a beautiful, tangible piece of art that you created with your own hands. But more than that, you'll leave with a renewed sense of calm, a stronger connection to your own inner voice, and the confidence that comes from trying something new.
